Mortal Kombat 11 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. Rather, the character should be given more time to develop before being thrown into the fray with some of the most recognizable and powerful fighting game characters in the history of the genre. To be fair, it's not to say that Cole Young should never make his way into the series.

While the Mortal Kombat movie didn't nail portrayals of all its characters, its obvious strengths came in the times that it did. And suffice it to say, ultimately after watching the movie imagining a moveset for Cole Young would likely just feel basic in comparison. Cole Young Wouldn't Add Much to Mortal Kombat. Many characters that have direct impact on the lore of Mortal Kombat being waylaid to include a character from the movie would likely click with fans come MK12 or whatnot. While the Mortal Kombat movie got a lot right, much of that success is rooted in characters and stories that have already existed for decades now. And there are already so many viable characters that are already established in the lore of Mortal Kombat. Scorpion has already fallen into an impromptu father role with Takeda after Kenshi's death, so that emotional role in the story is essentially already filled.
His relationship to Scorpion in the films is also already fulfilled in the game, given Kenshi's son having trained with Scorpion and the other Shirai-Ryu. Mortal Kombat has historically been filled with one of the most interesting casts of characters, especially after having added much more diversity between the veritable rainbow of colored ninjas, and for many that sat somewhat at odds with the introduction of Cole Young in the new movie. Naturally, the discussion about introducing the movie's new protagonist Cole Young into the games has cropped up online, but for many, it doesn't really feel necessary. At times loaded with fan service and at others stilted dialogue and some missed opportunities, reception has been overall good for the newest screen adaptation for Mortal Kombat and its future. However, the film has been somewhat divisive among fans of the game series though. Mortal Kombat is available to watch now on Amazon Prime Video.The Mortal Kombat movie has garnered commercial success since its release in theaters and on HBO Max last weekend. Fans of the video games will be able to enjoy this film and see its strengths, but newcomers to the franchise may want to turn off before the film is over.
Although the plot takes some risks by avoiding a Mortal Kombat tournament, not all of it land. The protagonist, Cole, is frustrating to watch, and idiotic. The stars of the movie - Scorpion and Sub-Zero - are used sparingly, while some of the franchise's bigger characters - including Liu Kang and Kung Lao - feel sidelined. The fight scenes, bombastic characters, fantastic special effects and video game homages are spectacular, however, it falls drastically short with its characterisation. Most of the time I was waiting for him to leave the screen so I could watch more of Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee) and Kano (Josh Lawson). What's more, the powers he is granted towards the end of the film are laughable at best.
If the world ends, your family will die too, Cole! Just think about it! Not only does he put his family in danger multiple times, he shrugs off the literal fate of the planet when things get tough for him. However, the character is completely moronic. His main aim in the movie is to keep his family safe and figure out where he has come from.
